Should building components be standardized and have a fixed size or should each buildings components reflect the proportional size of its user? In terms of components, should a house for a shorter person be different from a house designed for a taller person?

For the most part, yes I do feel that building standards are necessary; however, from my experience as shorter than the average person, some things could be designed differently. For example, I have difficulty reaching top shelves and need a step ladder...even in a house with average 8 ft. ceilings. In this sense, perhaps heights of certain things could be designed differently so that it is easily accessible to me...but then again, if I were to sell my house, my home is limited to people of the same height, which is why standard sizes are of need.
If a house were designed specificly for you it would make sense to accomodate your needs. Thats what gives architecture its importance. To let that building replace you is to let someone else inhabit and own the spaces that were designed specifically for you. Architecture should be specific, even building standards...but is that practical.
